AMD zistila príčinu tepelného poškodzovania Ryzenov 7000, vydala upravený BIOS

Spoločnosť AMD identifikovala hlavnú príčinu spôsobujúcu v niektorých prípadoch extrémne zahrievanie poslednej generácie desktopových procesorov AMD Ryzen 7000 vyúsťujúce do tepelného poškodenia a vydala novú verziu softvéru AGESA zabraňujúcu týmto problémom, ktorú výrobcovia dosiek zahrnú teraz do svojich BIOS-ov.

Spoločnosť o tom informovala v stanovisku poskytnutom hardvérovým serverom, napríklad Anandtechu.

Stanovisko detailne nepopisuje všetky uskutočnené opatrenia. Avizuje ale uskutočnenie opatrení v napájaní na AM5 doskách, ktoré zabránia používaniu CPU mimo limitov špecifikácie, a uvádza jedno konkrétne opatrenie, limitovanie pracovného SoC napätie procesora na maximálne 1.3 Volta.

AMD tak čiastočne potvrdila skoršie neoficiálne informácie, podľa ktorých sa problémy môžu vyskytnúť práve pri SoC napätí minimálne 1.4 Volta po manuálnom zvýšení alebo aktivovaní EXPO profilu pamätí. Podľa skorších neoficiálnych informácií sa najskôr poškodia tepelné senzory a tým sa znefunkční ochrana proti prehriatiu, tieto informácie stanovisko neuvádza.

Ako sme upozornili, užívatelia sa na problémy sťažujú najmä v poslednom čase a v prípade modelov 7000X3D s veľkou L3 cache, problémy sa vyskytujú ale aj pri ostatných modeloch Ryzen 7000. Okrem procesora môže prísť aj k poškodeniu dosky.

K problémom môže prichádzať po manuálnom pretaktovaní ale tiež po zapnutí profilov pamätí technológie EXPO. Technológia EXPO, Extended Profiles for Overclocking, je technológiou oficiálne podporovanou AMD, výrobcami dosiek a pamätí, ktorá umožňuje aktivovaním EXPO profilu zvýšiť takt pamätí. Po zapnutí EXPO profilu sa pre stabilný beh ale typicky automaticky zvyšuje aj pracovné SoC napätie procesora.

Hoci EXPO je oficiálne podporované automatické pretaktovanie pamätí, podľa Tom's Hardware sa na poškodenie procesorov pri zapnutí EXPO nevzťahuje záruka. V aktuálnom stanovisku AMD odporúča užívateľom, u ktorých sa vyskytol tento problém, aby kontaktovali podporu spoločnosti.

Novú verziu AGESA spoločnosť už poskytla výrobcom dosiek a vydanie nových verzií BIOS-ov očakáva AMD v nasledujúcich dňoch. AMD odporúča všetkým užívateľom, aby si na AM5 doskách následne BIOS aktualizovali.

Uskutočnené opatrenia podľa AMD nemenia možnosti pretaktovania pamätí pomocou EXPO alebo XMP alebo zvýšenie výkonu pomocou PBO technológie.

Ostatné ber tak, že ide o OC. Ak predáva Kingston 1800 MHz DDR3 RAM, je to už OC. Súhlasím ale s Tebou, že je to na uváženie. Žiadne EXPO a XMP som nikdy nemusel používať. Proste nastavím manuálne frekvenciu, časovanie a napätie podľa OC profilu (vyčítaš zo specsheet výrobcu alebo cez CPU-Z). Minúta nastavovania. Potom máš istotu, že do ničoho iného nestrkáš nos.
